We have assembled an experienced and proven management team with more than 130 years of combined experience in the energy, chemical and waste industries. In addition, our management team has significant experience in successfully developing, engineering, constructing and financing large portfolios of energy projects utilizing both existing and new technologies.
E. James Macias
President and Chief Executive Officer
Jim has led energy industry operations for more than 30 years. As Executive Vice President at Calpine Corporation, he steered the nationwide development and construction of power generation plants with a total capacity of over 20,000 megawatts, one of the largest and most successful build-outs in U.S. history. He also restructured 6,500 energy, plant and service contracts to achieve more than $200 million in annual cost savings. Prior to joining Calpine, Jim was a senior operating executive at PG&E, one of the largest investor-owned public utility companies in the nation and the major utility serving Northern California. Jim oversaw operations for a 10,000-megawatt power generation fleet, $4 billion electric and gas transmission systems, and gas and electric procurement for more than four million customers. He received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and graduated from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Program for Management Development.
Stephen H. Lucas
Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
In a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades, Steve has been involved in some of the world’s most prestigious and technically challenging engineering and construction projects. He has worked in 33 countries for clients ranging from large international oil companies to global engineering and construction companies, the U.S. Trade & Development Agency, and governments around the world. He is an expert in all aspects of project development and management including estimating, cost analysis, engineering, contracting, executive management, economic analyses, licensing and licensing sales, and financing. He has also consulted on the big-picture technical and economic issues associated with project development, strategic planning and project management.
Eric N. Pryor
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Eric directs the company's financial affairs and leads fundraising efforts. Eric brings to Fulcrum more than two decades of progressive financial expertise. As Senior Vice President and Deputy CFO at Calpine, he directed and participated in debt and equity financings totaling more than $20 billion. Working closely with commercial banks, he closed numerous project financings and structured lease financings. He also led the closing of a $5 billion debtor-in-possession to exit loan facility, the largest ever completed. Eric received a B.A. in economics and an M.B.A. with emphasis in accounting and finance from the University of California, Davis. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Richard D. Barraza
Comptroller and Vice President of Administration
Rick leads Fulcrum's financial and administrative operations. He has more than two decades of experience in corporate business management, communications, accounting and finance. Prior to joining Fulcrum, he held senior accounting, finance and communications positions, most recently serving as Senior Vice President for both Investor Relations and Corporate Communications at Calpine. During Calpine's years of rapid growth, Rick established the company's accounting system, led their annual corporate and project budgeting process, managed communications with Wall Street and worked closely with the CFO on all debt and equity capital markets transactions. Investor Relations Magazine awarded him "Investor Relations Officer of the Year" in 2000. Rick has a B.S. in accounting from San Jose State University.
Theodore M. Kniesche
Vice President of Business Development
Ted explores and develops new ways to grow Fulcrum's business. He oversees Fulcrum's business development, project development and government relations activities. His experience spans a variety of industries and includes top-level corporate finance and M&A transactions. He came to Fulcrum from US Renewables Group (USRG), where he helped acquire, develop and operate renewable power and clean fuel assets. Prior to USRG, Ted served in the investment banking group at Bear Stearns & Co. Inc. In addition, Ted led a business development effort in the renewable energy industry and has worked on several ethanol and biodiesel corporate financings. Ted has a B.A. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley and a general course certificate from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Lewis Lee Rich
Vice President of Engineering, Construction and Operations
Lee brings to Fulcrum a unique perspective on engineering, acquired from more than 30 years in the chemical and energy industries. Prior to Fulcrum, he was Manager of Initial Operations at Black & Veatch, a global construction, consulting and engineering firm, where he directed the project start-up activities for LNG. Earlier in his career, Lee was Operations Manager at Kellogg Brown & Root, an engineering, construction and services company, where he ran several chemical projects. Lee has a B.S. in chemical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Tulsa and an M.A. in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Houston.
